Kaden groaned as his phone went off with several notifications. He picked it up to check it. Just news notifications, nothing from his pack that was important. He blinked at the time. It was eight in the evening. He’d been sleeping all day from when he crashed around seven that morning. He froze when Cedric moaned next to him. Even after all the time that passed the night before when they got each other off, Kaden wasn’t used to a man sleeping in the bed with him. His one-night stands left after the sex, his wolf too unsettled to allow someone to stay beside him unless they were a potential mate.

The night before had been wild. Kaden had heard that vampires liked to party, but he’d always doubted that they could rival the ones he and his werewolf brethren threw. Kaden had been wrong. Every wild thing that could’ve happened did. In the end, they didn’t kick everyone out until five in the morning, before the sun came up so Cedric’s coven could get in their tinted-window limos for the long drive back to Baltimore

After, they promptly went upstairs, stripped out of their fancy clothes, and collapsed on the bed. Kaden never knew if his blackout curtains worked, but they seemed to because not once during the day did they wake up. Now the night had set in again.

Cedric rolled over and moved to put his head on Kaden’s chest, causing his long legs to hang off the end of the bed a little bit, but he didn’t seem to care. “What time is it? Feels like we just went to sleep.”

Kaden stiffened a little over the fact Cedric wanted him to cuddle, but he supposed after the night before, it’s something they should try if they were ever going to consummate their marriage.

“We’ve been sleeping for thirteen hours. I don’t remember the last time I slept all day. Maybe the day after I took my LSATs?” Kaden mused. “I hadn't expected the party to go past two in the morning. I should get up. I’m not one used to sleeping all day, but you’re welcome to stay in bed.”

Cedric wrapped an arm around Kaden’s waist to keep him from going anywhere. “Stay. I might be a big, mean vampire, but we get starved for touch, too.”

Kaden snorted. “After what we did last night, I wouldn’t say that it’s been long enough for you to be starved for touch.”

“I like being able to hear your heartbeat and feel the warmth of your skin. I get why Max desired to be human. I would never take the path he did, but I can sympathize with it.”

As Cedric’s thumb stroked over the skin of his stomach, the repetitive motion caused Kaden’s skin to tingle. He swallowed. “Max would’ve been happy to hear you say something like that.”

Cedric held onto him tighter. “I miss him. I miss Max so much.” Cedric’s voice grew deeper, a tinge of sadness creeping in.

“I’m sad we didn’t get to say goodbye.
